LOCATION.-- Lat 39°24'21", long 88°53'47" (NAD of 1927), in NW1/4NW1/4 sec.17, T.11 N., R.3 E., Shelby County, Hydrologic Unit 07140201, on right bank at upstream side of bridge on State Highway 16, 0.1 mi downstream from Mud Creek, 4.5 mi west of Shelbyville, and at mile 9.1.

 

DRAINAGE AREA.-- 93.1 mi2.

GAGE.-- Water-stage recorder, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers satellite telemeter, and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 550.00 ft above NGVD of 1929 (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).

 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 11,300 ft3/s, May 2, 1983, gage height, 13.37 ft; maximum gage height, 14.92 ft, Sept. 23, 1993, discharge, 10,700 ft3/s; no flow for many days in 1982-85, 1988-89, 1991.

 

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Flood of June 28, 1957, reached a stage of 16.8 ft, present site and datum, with a discharge estimated at 26,400 ft3/s.
